Do not be over ambitious as yoga is not an exercise but a conscious decision to adapt to a more healthy lifestyle for your life. Doing yoga practice off and on will not produce the remarkable results of yoga you may be expecting, trick is regular practice and patience.
For your yoga practice start with yoga asanas and then do pranayama. In case you are not doing yoga asanas, you can do pranayama only. Or you can decide to do yoga asanas only. But for getting the real mind body co-ordination and improving concentration for meditation, a mix of pranayama and yoga asanas is essential.
