Stretching Excercises

You have mentioned stretching exercises to be done before yoga poses. Can you please tell me how to do these stretching exercises? I am very new to yoga or any kind of workout. I want to start yoga to lose post pregnancy weight. I had my second baby one year back and suffering from back pain and have gained a lot of weight.


Answer

Stretching exercises before yoga helps to warm up the body for doing yoga asanas. These exercises are basically to exercise the joints and muscles through slow movements. We rotate or move joints to make the joints more flexible. These are also called sukshma vyayam.

You can read more about weight loss after pregnancy. To avoid back pain, avoid forward bending poses and do not do stretch for any pose when you start feeling pain.
