When we are doing asanas, before that do we have to start warmup or sun salutations.

Before starting yoga it is better to do some warm up exercises. In yoga we call it 'sukshma kriyas' or 'subtle exercises' as it opens up all joints of the body, warm up the body and relaxes the muscles.

Some people also prefer to do 5 to 6 rounds of sun salutations for warming up.

I suggest do the warm up exercises, do the surya namaskars and proceed with the rest of yoga sequence.
