Maintaining Weight Loss With Yoga

If I stop doing yoga and maintain diet will I gain weight? I want to practice yoga for weight loss. After weight loss, I want to stop yoga. Will I gain my weight again?

Answer
It is recommended that you continue with your yoga practice even after losing weight. Though some people think that they can try to stop yoga and maintain their weight with diet control, but it is easier said than done.

Now if you stop doing yoga after weight loss, weight can come back depending on your lifestyle, diet control and physical activity levels.

I do not understand why you will like to stop yoga practice. After losing weight, if you can control your diet, ideal course of action to maintain weight can be:

~ Reduce the time for yoga practice or do it on alternate days rather than stopping your yoga practice.
~ Yoga has lot of benefits in addition to weight loss and you may not want to lose them and continue with yoga practice.
~ Do any other exercise regularly like jogging, brisk walking, cycling or swimming.
~ Maintain physically active lifestyle.
