Why a yoga pose is held for several breaths?
There are three parts of a yoga pose
~ gettting into the pose
~ holding the yoga pose steadily
~ coming out of the pose
Getting into the pose and coming out of the yoga pose should be done slowly. Actual benefit of the yoga pose will be more if you can hold the asana for more time. A beginner may be able to hold the pose for few seconds. With practice this time duration increases.
While holding the pose, breathe normally.
With some practice, yoga learners can hold a particular pose for up to one minute while experienced yoga practitioners may hold the pose for up to 5 minutes or more.
