My Head Feels Heavy After Pranayama

by Anonymous

After doing pranayama - alom vilom my head feels little heavy. In fact if I do any aasana my head feels heavy. So it it normal or I should stop? I am just a beginner.

Answer

By doing yoga or any other asana, head should not feel heavy. It is the other way round. You must feel refreshed and energised after doing yoga.

If you get the feeling of heavy head after yoga practice, you must stop doing yoga. Your problem could be due to following reasons:

1. Incorrect technique which can be due to incorrect sitting posture, breathing process or timing of breathing. Consult a yoga teacher to learn the correct technique of yoga asanas and pranayama.

2. If your body is not physically fit, that can also result in complications.

3. Lack of sleep or inadequate rest.

I will suggest learn from an experienced teacher to clear all your doubts.

Hope this helps.
