Yoga For Other Person

by Gnanes

My basic question is can a person perform yoga for other person without knowing to the original person.

My friend has been affected seriously by his family problem. He is vexed about the problem. I told him to try yoga so that his tension will reduce to little. But he is not interested in yoga. So can I or his wife can do yoga instead of my friend.

Answer

Hello Gnanes

1. There is no way that yoga done by a person can benefit others. Each one of us will have to do yoga poses, pranayama or meditation to get the benefits of yoga. There is no substitute for direct action.

2. Your friend may not be keen on starting a yoga practice as he may be under stress. Therefore, try to introduce him to one of the aspects of yoga i.e pranayama, meditation or relaxation techniques which can appeal to him.

3. There are two options for your friend:

~ He can work whole heartedly to resolve the problem at hand.
~ In his spare time, he can start doing yoga and pranayama to reduce stress levels. He must avoid negative thoughts and he can at least practice shavasana or yoga nidra for relaxation.

4. However, you can always pray to God for your near and dear ones. If you surrender yourself to God and pray with a clean heart, your prayers may get answered. At least prayers can provide us the power to face the tough problems of life.

Hope this helps.

Warm regards
Daljit
