Hello Daljit

Thanks for such a nice effort by introducing a yoga guide online.

I am a 25 years old female. My height is 5 feet 3 1/2 inches. I have been practising yoga 6 days a week from past 3 months now and have lost 6 kgs. My current weight is 75 kg.

I am a bit concerned about my diet. I practice pranyam in morning amd a yoga class at 4 30 on evening. Also, I take methi dana powder in morning.

Please advice a proper diet plan with pranayama in morning. Also I wake up at 6 am and sleep by 10 pm in night. I am an IAS aspirant so basically all I have to do in a day is sit and study. I would be really grateful if you guide.

Thanks

Dear Prabhjot

I am glad that you like this site. It is really commendable that you have lost weight with yoga practice. It is recommended that you continue with your yoga practice.

In case you want a diet plan for weight loss, it is recommended that you follow a diet chart with approx 1200 calories a day. Personalised diet chart will depend on your present eating patterns and the things you like to eat. For that maintain a food dairy for a week and mail me more details about your existing diet pattern, lifestyle(sedentary or active), any other exercise you are planning to do along with the diet plan. You can contact me and send me more details.

In the morning you can take lime juice with honey in the morning just after getting up. Thereafter freshen up, take bath(preferably) and do pranayama. After half an hour after paranayama, you can take methi dana powder. Thereafter, eat a low calorie balanced breakfast.

What you eat for breakfast depends on what food you like to eat and out of that select only the healthy items. Avoid packaged food, packaged fruit juices and fried foods. Ideally include some fruit or fresh fruit juice and some cereals in your breakfast. For example, you may take dalia or oats with milk and some fruit. Avoid tea or coffee with breakfast and during the day also. You can take green tea without sugar or milk say after an hour after your breakfast.

Include a lot of fruits and vegetables in your diet. Drink a lot of water.

Follow the yogic diet principles and read more about these weight loss tips.
