Fasting For Weight Loss

by Pabitra Pradhan

I am doing fasting as a part of my diet and trying yoga also but it has no effect on my body?

Answer
Fasting should be done as a means to provide rest to the digestive system and is not the preferred method for weight loss.

For example, if you fast once a week and then go on binge eating after breaking fast will negate the very purpose of the fast, i.e to give rest to the digestive system.

For permanent weight loss, eat low calorie, high fiber food. Get a low calorie diet chart consisting of easily available food items by consulting a dietician. Add your favourite low calorie foods high fiber food i.e vegetables, fruits and whole grains.

There is no need to stay hungry. You must eat three to four times a day. Your food must be freshly cooked. Eat fruits or few nuts in between meals if you feel hungry.

Hope this helps.
