What to eat before yoga for lactating mother?


Hello

I will be thankful if you can please guide me as I had a cesarean delivery 3 months ago and with the consultation of doctor I am planning to start yoga for weight loss and flat tummy. But my question is I feed baby in night and according to my mother I shouldn't start exercise or yoga without eating something, and at most of the places I have read that yoga should be done empty stomach or having lime water.

Please suggest me the right suggestion so that it should give healthy benefit to mine body and shouldn't effect baby in feeding.

It is strongly recommended to do yoga on empty stomach and you can take lukewarm lime juice with honey. This should be OK if you do yoga immediately after getting up.

If there is a delay of say more than one hour after you get up and do yoga, you may feel hungry. In that case you can drink fresh fruit juice or fresh vegetable juice after getting up and later on do yoga. Fresh fruit juice or vegetable juice is easily digested and provide required energy to the body. If you feel too hungry you can eat some fruit like orange or a banana. It is not advisable to drink tea or eat biscuits before yoga.

Remember, yoga should be done on empty stomach but not on an hungry stomach.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply but you didn't answer me completely as doing lactation whole night and then start exercise with lime water, won't this will effect my health as being a lactation mother.

Every body has its own tolerance before you feel the need to eat food. Therefore, you can try taking lime juice with honey before yoga practice. If you feel that lime juice is not enough for you, drink fresh fruit juice or eat some fruit.
Doing yoga empty stomach does not effect the health in any way provided:
~ You do not feel hungry during the yoga session.
~ You do not experience low energy levels or too much tiredness.
