Deep Breathing With Eyes Open

by Anonymous

I know ideally you should do deep breathing with eyes closed but sometimes if you are in a office it may not be possible. In such a case can you practice deep breathing with eyes open. It may be less beneficial but I hope it doesn't cause any other harm. Also can you practice deep breathing while standing, sitting on chair and lying down.

Answer

1. You can do deep breathing either with eyes open. It will not effect the breathing process in any way. However, it is generally recommended to keep the eyes closed for better concentration.

2. Thus, there is no harm in doing deep breathing with eyes open.

3. Yes, you can practice deep breathing while standing or sitting on chair or lying down. But while doing deep breathing the back and neck should be in a straight line. Preferably, deep breathing should be done while sitting on your yoga mat in any sitting meditative posture.

4. When you sit on a chair or a bench for doing deep breathing, keep your back straight and feet to be placed on ground ahead of the chair.

Hope this helps
